Celebrity Cruises has been making waves lately with the launch of its new Edge-class ships, but that’s not the only exciting development this innovative cruise line has in the works. The Celebrity Revolution is a $500 million fleet-wide modernisation programme which is reimagining spaces and introducing upgrades across Celebrity’s vessels - and this transformational project has just reached one of the line’s most well loved ships.
Celebrity Equinox, perennially based in the cruising mecca of the Caribbean, is the latest ship to get the Celebrity Revolution treatment, getting new spaces, new bars and restaurants and new technological enhancements to take guests’ holiday experience to the next level. Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, President and CEO, Celebrity Cruises, spoke to how significant this particular transformation is. “Celebrity Equinox holds a very special place in the hearts of everyone at Celebrity Cruises, and also for our guests; this one-of-a-kind ship continues to be the most awarded in our entire fleet. Now, emerging from her dramatic modernisation, our guests are going to love the new ‘revolutionised’ Celebrity Equinox even more. There is no better way to experience the Caribbean year-round than onboard this stunning ship.”
So what exactly has changed aboard the Celebrity Equinox? All sorts of quality of life enhancements large and small have been introduced to this already stunning ship.
Eat and Drink
The Silk Harvest restaurant has been transformed into the extraordinary Qsine, featuring next-generation dining entertainment thanks to the innovative Le Petit Chef and Friends, which brings the tabletop to life in new and surprising ways. The Passport Bar has been entirely reimagined, creating the ideal venue for casual catch ups before or after dinner. Gastrobar has made way for the all new Craft Social, which invites guests to explore a world of flavours with over 40 kinds of craft beers, wine and cocktails - all in a cosy setting boasting leather seating, flat screen TVs and comfort food.
One of the major changes to Celebrity Equinox in this modernisation are the ship’s technological features which have a direct impact on the cruise experience. RFID lock technology and shipwide Xcelerate WiFi are just the start. Guests will also be able to enjoy Celebrity Cruises’ industry-leading facial recognition tech with the Celebrity Cruises app which allows for handy perks like digital room keys, guest-to-guest chat, expedited boarding and more. There’s also a firm focus on science and the ways it can be used to keep our oceans clean, thanks to a partnership with the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science. Coming back to simpler pleasures, The Spa by Canyon Ranch is now offering a unique new range of treatments and products, including Signature Couples’ treatments and customised facials by Reveal Machine.
Suite guests can enjoy a whole new area: The Retreat, which includes The Retreat Sundeck (an exclusive spot to soak up some rays) and The Retreat Lounge. Both suites and staterooms have been overhauled for maximum comfort, now featuring exclusive eXhale bedding with king sized Cashmere mattresses. There’s also all kinds of new shopping opportunities available: John Hardy Boutique, Kate Spade, and a watch boutique offering a variety of Swiss brands like Shinola and Hublot.
You won’t see the rejuvenated Celebrity Equinox in Australasian waters but if you’re tempted by the idea of a classic cruise experience, start thinking about a tropical Caribbean getaway aboard this much loved (and now freshly rejuvenated) Celebrity Cruises vessel.
